Historical City Hall

Historical City Hall

After the destruction of the Jew municipality in 1349, the area of the Jewish ghetto at Hochstraße and corner of Kramgasse, already called for a long time, came into possession of the town-councilor.

In 1407 the seat of the town-councilor is mentioned in a document for the first time to be at this place. In 1561 the city hall is renewed, with a market hall originally open to Hochstrasse and the councilor hall and court hall behind it.
After the destruction by the Frenchmen, the front was renewed in its baroque form. Today it is possible to marry in front of this charming historical scenery.

Jewish BathWhile the synagogues of the former Jewish congregation do no longer exist, the Jewish bath, built at the beginning of the 14th century in form of a 12.80 meters deep pit two-floor building, remained unchanged. It is one of the few Jewish baths still existing of this kind.
