City Library
The public library opened in 1950, is located in the generously arranged rooms of a new built annex to the historical city hall since 1990. Rooms immersed in light and a "reading garden" under a glass roof, invite the visitors to stay in the library und to nuzzle in its offered media. This offer covers more than 45,000 media. It is possible to lent books, magazines, videos, music cassettes and CD ROMs for free. In the child and youth library you may find picture books, narrations, novels and nonfiction books for children and young persons. Besides novels, narrations, biographies and poems, the Andernach public library offers to adult readers nonfiction books concerning all important fields of knowledge. In order to be able to offer up-to-date information to the readers, the public library has subscriptions to 80 magazines and 2 daily papers. The video offer of the Andernach public library covers children’s movies, movies for adults, dramas and travel videos. To the interested library users, the public library offers appropriate CDs and music cassettes for almost every music taste. The offer ranges from classical music, jazz, pop, rock and hits to folk music. Furthermore, the library stocks also include numerous radio plays and readings for children and adults as well as language courses on cassettes and CDs. Two personal computers and a printer are made available to the visitors of the Andernach public library. With the help of these computers, it is possible to do Internet research and to write and read emails. In addition, the library user may work with the library CD ROMs. Texts, such as projects or applications, can be written on the computers. Using the PC is free. There is only a small fee for printing.
