Andernach Geyser
Pictures of the Andernach Geyser
Besides the commercial use of the carbonic acid source by the Namedyer Sprudel GmbH, this unique natural spectacle was already developed for tourism in 1912. Thus, gastronomy existed at the edge of the geyser and furthermore regular horse riding festivals were organized. The Namedy geyser is a unique natural spectacle, which remains unequalled. There is only one other cold-water geyser of this kind in North America. In opposition to the hot water geysers, which use the steam pressure of overheated water to eject the water, this cold-water geyser is driven by carbonic acid.
In the First and second World War the geyser was substantially damaged. In the following years the geyser finally came to a standstill in 1957 after additional technical problems. After a successful re-activation of the "Andernach Geyser", the responsible project managers see their next challenge in the tourist development of the future attraction in the volcanic park. Highest priority during the realization of all development concepts is given to an equal partnership of nature protection and natural spectacle.
